Questions for Chelsea Oglesby

5 comments:

  1. I see a lot of movies, but there are two MAT's are always getting on my case about not seeing: "The Goonies" and "Wall-e." Remind me when the July classes are over and I promise I will watch those movies in August. I really do want to see them!

My question for you is, you mentioned you love dogs, do you have a dog?

  2. Oh my goodness, the Goonies is one of my favorite movies too!

My question is: what is the most important thing you've learned from substitute teaching?

  4. Sorry guys! I am so behind here!

Dr. Alby, I do love dogs!!! SOOOOOO MUCH! I have one back back at home. Her name is Lily. She is a Chiwawa/poodle mix. She is the sweetest thing in the world. She follows me everywhere I go and sleeps on the rug next to my bed at night. I hate that she has to stay at home and cant be here in Milly but it wouldn't be fair to have her here and not be able to give her the attention she deserves.

YOU HAVE TO WATCH THE GOONIES! haha It is seriously so good. I have the movie poster on my wall right now. I love it so much.

Emily, I am so glad you understand the importance of The Goonies. haha As far as the most important thing I have learned from substituting... well...I spent most of my time in a Primary school with second graders but the days that I did get to spend at the high school I learned that they need their teachers/substitutes/parents or whoever, to believe in them. My county is pretty poor and there are a lot of kids that probably have never even had the conversation about what to do after high school. That is so sad to me. They have such potential and they are just automatically put into a category of kids that wont amount to anything. I had a high school boy come up to me and ask me about college. He looked at me and said, "I really want to go but I don't think I will." I asked why he thought that and he said "I don't know, just probably won't." He didn't have anyone telling him that he could if he worked hard. They don't have that support. This isn't true for all school but it just made me realize that as a teacher I want to show my students that I care and that they do have what it takes to make it as far as they want to go.

Jessy! OH MY GOSH! YES YES YES! I am obsessed! My favorite episode would probably either be the one from the first season where Nick pretends to be one of Jess' students, Cornelius Pepperwood, to keep her safe from the creepy dead deer guy and pretty much all of season 2. haha I am in love with Nick and Jess! When Schmidt got stung I died too. The very last scene where he is trying to throw it back into the ocean and it slips out of his hand! I lost it.
