  1. whitney! thanks for sharing your story with us! i'm glad that everything went well with your surgery! i can't wait to see you again. i'm so excited that we're in the MAT together.

okay so my question is -- what excites you most about this coming year? And, what age group are you wanting to teach?

    1. I am so excited that we are in the MAT program together too!! And what excites me the most... just continuing to learn how to teach. I know that sounds vague but just the time we have spent in class the past month has convinced me that this is where I am supposed to be and I am loving everything I learn. I would like to teach high school, but honestly as long as I have a job, I am willing to teach pretty much any age.

  2. Your story about your brain surgery is just so amazing, and I love that you don't mind sharing it! Did Peter get to see Monsters University yet?? I want to go see it so bad!

My real question for you is: I don't think I got to look at your Reading Autobiography. Do you have a favorite book/author. I know you love Shakespeare, but is there a certain aspect of literature that you enjoy most? Or have a favorite literary genre to read for fun?

    1. I think that he went this past weekend to see it, and I am so bummed that I didn't get to go with him. I want to see it really bad too!! Hahaha

Picking a favorite book or author is incredibly difficult, but if I had to choose it would probably be the Harry Potter series, anything by Francine Rivers, and Wuthering Heights. I think that my favorite thing about literature is that there are endless answers to what things mean. It is obvious that some things have only one meaning, but the depth that you can go into examining the motives of authors or characters or anything has always been something that I enjoyed. I like to read anything, but fantasy is probably my go to genre when it comes to reading for fun.

  3. Great autobiography! I really enjoyed learning about you. I also love Christmas time but really only celebrated the holiday for the first time this past year. What is it that you love about Christmas?

    1. My favorite thing about Christmas is the excitement and magic that comes with the holiday. Everyone is bustling around decorating and shopping, and there is a joyful and magical element to that time of year that I find so exciting and wonderful. Also the food is better at Christmas.

  4. I am guessing that because of your surgery, you probably have learned some things about the brain. Is there anything you have learned about how the brain functions that could apply to teaching?

    1. What I did learn about the brain had a lot to do with the placement of different functions of the brain, and most of it was where the motor and sensor strips were because that was where my epilepsy's focal point was. However, I did learn that the map of the brain is not specific to every person. In general everyone's brain has the same map but certain people's verbal or memory sections can be shaped differently, which I though was really cool. I also learned that there is an entire part of the brain that no one knows what it does. Other than that though, not really anything that can apply directly to teaching.

  5. Just a simple one for now. Why giraffes?

    1. Honestly, I have no idea. One day during my first semester of college I decided that I like them and the love has grown from there. My roommates say it is because I am tall and blond just like giraffes are, so I relate to them on that level. I don't know how accurate that is because giraffes are graceful and I am anything but graceful haha.
