Questions for Rachel Moldovan

  1. Maybe you should work at summer camps so you can keep going to camp but get paid for it! I was going to try to stick to one question but I am dying to ask two. 1) Since your mother is Cuban, what drew you to French instead of Spanish? and 2) Do you watch "So you think you can dance"? That is one of my favorite shows. I don't have cable or satellite anymore, so I have to wait 30 days to see the episodes on line.

  2. 1) My mother's family fled Cuba when Castro gained power. They lost their home (because they were quite wealthy) and came to America, Atlanta specifically because they had family friends here. Growing up, my mother was bullied because she spoke Spanish, so we never really spoke Spanish at home. It was painful for my family to talk about their life in Cuba, so I never really felt incredibly tied to Spanish (except for the food). French is more appealing to me because of the culture to be honest!

    2) I have! It is so good!

    1. Cuban food it so excellent! A close friend of mine is Cuban. We went to Miami once and stayed with his family. We ate at what is thought to be the best Cuban restaurant in Miami - "The Versailles" (I know, funny name for a Cuban restaurant) His grandmother, who spoke no English, taught me to make espresso on the stove top with one of those special pots. I still make it like she does to this day. That woman had a shot of espresso at the top of just about every hour that she was awake - like 10 shots a day!

  3. Wow! I can't imagine going from working at a camp in the Alps to Milledgeville, I wouldn't want to leave either! So my question is, what do you do to keep your life exciting in Milledgeville??
